your memories are my memories
"Your Memories Are My Memories" is an ongoing project. The process includes volunteers describing (through text) an object that hangs in their mind as a concrete example of the beautiful. The only boundary is that the actual object can not be revealed. From their texts, I try to re-access these memories of objects with simple art supplies (i.e. house paint, newsprint, candy wrappers).
The sculptures are displayed in a quasi-science fair presentation, on white oilcloth. The text (unseen here) is white vinyl lettered onto the adjacent white wall.
What has been interesting for me in this project is 1.the reading I take from the text (alchemy) 2. the lack in ability to follow directions (the writers tend to give away their objects, although leaving context mystified) 3. my leniance in interpretation in leiu of a Modernist aesthetic)
I am in the the process of collecting more submissions. Contact me if you are interested in participating.

this difference will be enough for us to remember
This video, “This Difference Will Be Enough For Us To Remember,” runs on a 11 minute loop, repeating a series of living portraits: individuals recorded digitally telling their story, their recollection of an object they can only revisit through their memory (in this case, the painting that hung over their gramma's sofa). The audio has been distorted, so that no discipherable words are heard. Only through body language and a misgiving subtitle sequence, can the text be “read”.
